"Oh Deer"

Look at this Picture of a deer for just a minute...

Sometimes "what one sees, is not always the complete picture".  Or as the proverbial saying goes, "Is the buck in hand, better than a buck in the bush?"

Did you miss him?  Click on the picture of the deer on the picture to see them.  He is a big buck!  Then click "back" to get here again.

  1. Deer Picture

Why do we use a black background for our website?  We have had comments that  the resolution is good... but that is not why.  I as well as many, do surf the internet sometimes in low light or the dark.  If you watch someone else surf in the dark and hit a bright white page, their whole face lights up!  Does it ever make you feel like a "deer in a headlight" too?

Deer Picture Drinking, and Dunking
A wildlife event.  "Get out", for just a moment...

"Sitting there on one side of the river bank, I saw a young deer come down the opposite bank.  It was a young, felt cover spiked antler buck, coming to get a share of the river's fruits.  He maneuvered down the steep, wooded, river bank carefully, making sure his feet were firmly planted.  He occasionally paused and kept his eyes out for intruders.  He approached the water and carefully stepped in to it, knee deep.  He looked around for a few minutes making sure his new place in the wild was safe.  Then he drank.  Then apparently holding his breath, he dipped his head in the water all the way down to his eyes, grazing on the vegetation on the bottom.  He enjoyed the cool spring river water while looking around, as it cooled his legs, hooves, and face on this 90 plus degree day.

I associate with people and friends everyday.  At that moment, we associated, coexisted as different species, yet mutual friends on the river.  We looked into each others eyes several times between his grazing and drinks, as if all was right, no details or explanation of thoughts, two ships passing in life.  The moment was quiet.  He took his time to enjoy the moments on the river, and as he left, lunging his body repeatedly up the steep bank to reach the top, I said goodbye.  I thought about it several times that night. He left an impression on me just as would be expected from anyone.  I have to admit, it was a wonderful and lasting one..."
